Privacy Policy

Scratchbook does not collect any data.

The app has no accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs. Your park collection, wildlife sightings, the dates you add, favorites, and notes are stored on your device and, while iCloud Sync is on (it is by default, and you can turn it off in the app's Settings), in your own iCloud account via iCloud key-value storage, so they follow you to another iPhone signed into the same Apple Account. That data belongs to you and is never sent to us — we have no servers and no way to see it.

Photos you add to a park or species are chosen with Apple's photo picker, which gives Scratchbook only the photo you pick, not your library. They stay on your device. When iCloud Sync is on, a copy is also stored as an asset in your own private iCloud database, which is what lets a photo reappear on another device or after a reinstall. Those copies live under your Apple Account, count against your iCloud storage, and are removed from it when you delete the photo in the app. We never receive them.

Details inside a photo. If a photo you add carries the date and place it was taken, Scratchbook reads them and keeps them with the photo — the date so it can offer it as a suggestion, which you can accept or ignore. The app does not use the location for anything today. These details are removed with the photo and, while iCloud Sync is on, sync with the rest of your collection through your own iCloud account.

Saving to your photo library. If you save a poster or a reveal video, iOS asks for permission to add it to your photo library. That permission lets Scratchbook add what you save; it cannot read or change anything else in your library.

Location is optional and never leaves your device. If you sort parks by distance, the app asks for your approximate location while you are using it, works out which parks are nearest, and forgets it. Your coordinates are not saved, synced, or sent anywhere. You can decline and every other sorting option still works.

We do not share any data with third parties — there is none to share. The only service involved is Apple's iCloud, which stores your collection under your own Apple Account, protected by Apple's privacy policy. The one-time Full Scratchbook purchase is handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details.

If you delete the app, your collection remains in your iCloud account and comes right back when you reinstall. To remove it entirely, delete the app's data from iCloud in your device settings.
